Facebook is integrating Messenger even in the desktop web version. The messaging web application still has its own stand-alone website which is also connected to the user's account.
The mobile application for Facebook has already been separated with the Messenger app in the past and it angered many users on smartphones. However, there are several wrappers available in the app stores which allows users to access both without having to download them in the first place.
Now, Facebook is integrating the desktop Messenger with the website itself. Facebook's Messenger web change has been noticed in the United States, Europe and some countries in Asia, Tech Crunch has learned.
The change is not rolled out instantly as some users reporting seeing it while others within the same area do not. Facebook has no official announcement regarding the new change or if there will be new features that came with the update.
Some users are alarmed at the change as they will need to adjust again. They are already familiar with the old layout and now they are presented with a new one.
Facebook head David Marcus addressed some of the feedback regarding the Messenger change in an official note. Marcus said that the migration was a strong request among the majority of Facebook users across the world.
The new Messenger icons can be seen on the tool bar and on the side menu in Facebook's desktop web version, Social Times reported. For others, the change is welcome as they can now access the same features and settings available in their Messenger mobile application.
Users can quickly change the nickname of their friends inside conversations. They can also change colos and emojis plus view all of the media shared between them.
Facebook's Messenger migration change may take a while to appear in other countries. It seems to be a gradual rollout and users in other countries may see it soon.
