BTS recently added several new awards to the band's list of accomplishments. The Kpop group brought home four major honors during the 26th Seoul Music Awards including one of the event's major prizes.
The seven-member South Korean band BTS were one of the big winners at the 26th Seoul Music Awards. Held on Jan. 19, Thursday, the prestigious event recognized some of the best musicians, albums and performances in the Kpop industry.
BTS received the Best Album Award for their second studio album "Wings," according to Soompi. Released in October 2016, the said album became a chart topper and even ranked on several Billboard charts.
Meanwhile, the title track for "Wings" was also recognized during the event. Titled "Blood, Sweat & Tears," BTS received the Best Music Video Award for the said song's music video.
Apart from the two awards, the septet was also honored with the Best Male Dance Performance Award and a Bonsang Award which is one of the event's main prizes. Other Kpop groups and musicians who also received a Bonsang Award included EXO, Seventeen, TWICE, Sechskies, GFriend, Mamamoo, GOT7, VIXX, Red Velvet, Block B's Zico and Taeyeon.
Another Kpop group who brought home several trophies from the Seoul Music Awards are EXO and TWICE. Aside from the Bonsang honor, EXO received the Fandom School Award and the grand prize Daesang Award while TWICE nabbed the Best Female Dance Performance Award and the Best Digital Song Award for "Cheer Up."
In other news, the first quarter of 2017 will be a busy period for BTS given the band's upcoming world concert tour. Apart from the tour, a music industry source told Yonhap News that the South Korean boy band is also planning to launch a new album in February.
The source shared that the upcoming album will serve as an extension to "Wings." Production work is already ongoing but it is still unclear if the said album will contain new versions of previously released tracks.
