AMD Vega fans are in for a treat as the company is holding a giveaway for the GPU. All users have to do is to enter the Radeon sweepstakes which requires their social media accounts.
There is no official AMD Vega specs, price and release date yet but the new GPU has already been demonstrated by the company. AMD used a Ryzen and Vega combo to run "Doom" at 4K ultra settings and ended up with an average of 70 frames per second which is better than the NVIDIA GTX 1080's 60 fps.
AMD's Vega giveaway started on Jan. 5 at 9:00 AM Eastern Time, Digital Trends reported. The free AMD Vega GPU contest will end on Feb. 5 at also 9:00 AM ET. There is no purchase required to enter the sweepstakes but there are some rules that users need to take not off.
One rule is that participants must have a valid social network account which can be on Facebook or Twitter. They must follow at least one of AMD's social media profiles such as Radeon Pro on Twitter. It can be confusing as entering the contest already yields one entry which can lead to a possible disqualification if the user does not follow a social media profile.
The free AMD Vega could be given to the winners even before the expected May release date, Segment Next reported. It may also cost more than the $200 Radeon RX 480 considering that it has a huge performance upgrade.
NVIDIA has not yet revealed the GTX 1080 Ti but many believe that it will compete head to head with the AMD Vega 10 or Vega 11 GPUs. If that is the case, the price may easily shoot up to more than $600. AMD Vega specs are expected to be unveiled soon in another press event by the company.
