"Quantico" Season 2 will return to ABC with a major focus on Ryan and Alex's relationship.
In the midseason finale, Alex discovered that Ryan is one of the terrorists. When she pulled one of the guy's mask, she was surprised to see that it was Ryan hiding behind it.
But even though "Quantico" will return with a focus on the two characters' story, this does not mean that there will be a huge time jump in the show. "You start at a place where it is almost like a recap of everything that has happened," lead star Priyanka Chopra told Entertainment Weekly.
However, the actress clarified that it will not be a lengthy recap. "We are at a point where there is such a big conflict between Ryan and Alex. So the episode still starts off in a dramatic way," she explained.
Meanwhile, Chopra spoke with The Hollywood Reporter in November 2016 to dish on the shocking finale where Ryan was named as one of the terrorists. The actress admitted that she and her co-stars were all in shock because they never anticipated such a storyline from being part of the show.
"That was a big shocker. None of us saw that twist coming. I think that takes her a while to also understand, and she goes into figuring out why Ryan would do what he did. And the answers there will be very interesting. It is a theme of the back half of the season," she said.
When asked if she still wants Alex and Ryan to get a happy ending in the near future, Chopra said that she is rooting for the two.
"Of course! I totally believe in a happy ending if Alex would just stop sabotaging, like she does. She is a survivor all her life, it is hard for her to create relationships. But I do hope there is a happy ending there for Alex and Ryan," she said.
"Quantico" Season 2 will return to ABC on Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. EST.
