Is a new ‘Sherlock’ episode airing on Jan. 22?

The new episode of "Sherlock" is not airing on Sunday, Jan. 22. "The Final Problem" is the finale of "Sherlock" Season 4. However, it is difficult to predict if "The Final Problem" is the series finale.

In July 2016, the executive producer Steven Moffat spoke with Telegraph and shared that he doesn't know for how long they can keep the show going. He added that he would be "moderately surprised" if Season 4 is the last they made. Moffat said that "Sherlock" Season 4 could be the series finale.

Meanwhile, the Russian-language version of the finale was leaked before it officially aired on Channel One. The channel released a statement and confirmed that one of their employees "non-maliciously" broke the security protocols.

"We regret to confirm that one of our employees non-maliciously broke our strict security protocols," reads the statement via Hollywood Reporter.

"We would like to reassure our partners and viewers, that as a result of this incident, we have completely revised our content security procedures to ensure that this does not happen again and we apologize to Hartswood Films, BBC Worldwide and Sherlock fans everywhere who have been impacted by this leak," the statement adds.

Meanwhile, BBC One also released a statement terming the leak as an "isolated non-intentional content security lapse."

"Further to Channel One's findings that this was an isolated non-intentional content security lapse on the part of an employee, BBC Worldwide welcomes their reassurances that they will be tightening security procedures to eliminate any similar future risks, and we will work closely with them to ensure this happens."
