There will be a Galaxy Note 8 release later this 2017, Samsung has confirmed, but Sammy fans can brush aside the flagship phablet for now as fresh rumors indicate that the duo of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will unbox with supersized displays - 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch, respectively. And part of the package is structural and functional support for the S Pen stylus.
That the Galaxy S8 will boast of the same signature feature popularized by Samsung with the Galaxy Note phablet series was hinted in a YouTube clip (can be viewed below) pointed to by WCCFTech. In the video that supposedly showcased cases for the GS8, one sample was seen with a cutout that appears to accommodate the S Pen. The same design was seen with the cases made for the Galaxy Note 7, the report noted.
Hence the presentation sparked speculations that Samsung is likely to unbox a version of the Galaxy S8 with a stylus included. Or at least the GS8 will have built-in support for the input instrument and an S Pen holster to boot, and it will be up to users if they will opt to purchase the accessory separately.
This, however, will only be confirmed when the GS8 is unpacked in the next few months but thankfully a new report by Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, via Venture Beat afforded to Galaxy fans an advanced preview of the things to expect.
Headlining the latest revelations from Blass, who in the past has provided accurate information on upcoming gadget releases, is that the Galaxy S8 will hit the market in two screen sizes as mentioned above, and the biggest will boast of a Super AMOLED QHD display. Both front panels will carry over the curved Edge display that was introduced by Samsung in 2015.
And as teased in recent rumors, the GS8 line will sport an all-screen profile so there will be no physical keys and sensors to be found on the front panel. Per the report by @evleaks, the handset will have a display that is about 83 percent of the front panel.
Both the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will draw power from Snapdragon 835 chip, or Samsung's in-house Exynos 8895 in some regions, with support coming from 4GB of RAM. The GS8 main engine combo is said to gain 11 percent of processing speed from the Galaxy S7 and 20 percent better power efficiency, Venture Beat said on its report.
On the camera side, the 12MP rear and 8MP front camera setting will be mostly left untouched except for the addition of iris recognition and visual search functionalities.
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be introduced packing 64GB of internal memory with expansion support, and Blass said the revelation will happen March 29 and not via the MWC 2017 this coming February. The actual release date will begin April 21 and the sticker price starts at $850.
