"Scandal" Season 6 stars Kerry Washington and Bellamy Young recently talked about the premiere episode, titled "Survival of the Fittest."
While speaking with E! News, the co-stars said that the episode will definitely not be boring for the viewers. The lead star confirmed that there will be some unexpected relationships brewing throughout the entire season. However, they are not necessarily the ones fans would expect.
"I can tell you, you will not be bored in that area. It may not be what you are expecting, but you will not be bored," she said.
When asked what else is in store for fans, Washington said that the first 10 minutes will be very exciting because it is when they will find out who won the elections.
Olivia was very much involved in Mellie's (Young) campaign, but even though she is such an expert in her job, this does not guarantee that her bet will win. When the results of the election are revealed, Olivia will be devastated to find that she is no longer in power.
"I am telling you, it is worth the wait. I know we have made you wait, but it is worth it," she said.
Meanwhile, after Mellie finds out that she lost in the elections, everyone is shocked to know that Governor Vargas (Francisco Chavira) was also assassinated. He was killed because of Cyrus Beene's (Jeff Perry) doing.
Olivia soon found out that it was Cyrus who had the governor killed, but when she tells President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) about it, he just could not believe it.
Cyrus is also aware that Olivia knows what he did. The only problem is that she does not have any means to prove it. This results in the Olivia-Fitz-Cyrus power play dynamic that fans thought they would miss when the show returned because Fitz is no longer president.
Towards the end of the episode, another shocking storyline was revealed. Quinn and Charlie are now engaged, and Huck is not necessarily happy about it.
"Scandal" Season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
