"Pokémon Go" is receiving a new minor update. Branded by the version numbers 1.25.0 for iOS and 0.55.0 for Android, it is intended to mostly improve loading times and fix Pokémon Go Plus' connectivity.
Niantic first announced the update via its website on Jan.28, saying that the latest version would roll out slowly to all "Pokémon GO" players instead of arriving in the form of a mass rollout. Apart from the minor tweaks, gamers should not see any significant changes to their apps.
Nevertheless, despite being a minor update, it is expected to fix maddening loading times as well as resolve connectivity issues for Pokémon Go Plus for all Android users. For iOS, it will integrate wheelchair support for those who use Apple Watches and fix minor general errors in the text.
No one knows whether the latest version is just a bonus update to iron out bugs or just another one of Niantic's update for the week. The most recent "Pokémon Go" update was released on Jan. 17, counting out another minor one that added language support for Korean users.
According to Reuters, "Pokémon Go" recently landed in South Korea despite the long wait and several obstacles. Previous reports pointed out that the country's authoritarian laws restricted Google Maps, which happens to be a part and parcel of "Pokémon Go."
The game relies heavily on maps to aid players in finding and tracking Pokémon and so Niantic had to find a way around this obstacle. Although it remained laconic about, the company finally managed to implement an alternative solution.
Besides this, the California-based developer also resolved several more issues recently including a global crash of the app and a server issue which had been paralyzing the gameplay. Niantic servers now support an average of 20 million "Pokémon Go" players in the United States alone with total global downloads totaling 500 million.
"Pokémon Go" updates are released on a bi-monthly basis and are usually announced on Mondays or Tuesdays. Here are more tweaks believed to be hidden in the last update:
