Sunderland is on a five-game winless slide at the moment as the team is back to the bottom of the 20-team English top flight table. The team is only one point below the other two bottom three sides, Crystal Palace and Hull City.

The Black Cats were blanked by contending squad West Bromwich Albion, 0-2, on the road at the Hawthorns in their most recent fixture on Jan. 21, as per Chronicle Live.

Baggies midfielders Darren Fletcher and Chris Brunt netted the two goals in the 30th and 36th minutes of the contest.

It was the second straight loss for head coach David Moyes' side after holding title contenders Liverpool to a 2-2 draw earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the Spurs were able to hold fellow powerhouse team Manchester City to a 2-2 draw on the road at the Etihad Stadium also on Jan. 21, Daily Mail Online reported.

Both teams were scoreless during the first half of the match. Leroy Sane opened the scoring for City in the 49th minute before teammate Kevin De Bruyne doubled their lead five minutes later with a close-range tap off an error by Hugo Lloris.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino's side was able to fight back, though, as Dele Alli trimmed the lead to one with a header in the 58th off a set-up by Kyle Walker before South Korean winger Son Heung-min equalized in the 77th.

The draw snapped Tottenham's six-game winning streak as they remain in the third spot of the league table, nine points below current league leaders Chelsea and only a point behind second-place team Arsenal.
