A teenager, 14, has admitted to manslaughter of Paul Walker, 52, of Normoss Avenue who was found unconscious in Sutton Place, United Kingdom and later died with a single killing punch.
It seems the name Paul Walker is really associated with hard luck. The famous Hollywood-actor with the same name died in a tragic car crash on Nov. 30, 2013. This Paul Walker died of injuries to his head, face and neck was celebrating New Year's Day before he was found lying senseless in a street at the seaside resort on Jan. 1.
The Daily Mail revealed that the Preston Crown Court heard that Walker was a Celtic fan and living in Blackpool for at least 10 years. The court also heard the fact that police was looking for footage of the attack which shows the teenager being encouraged to punch Walker by two older men.
The boy was initially charged for murder, but the court diminished the offense to manslaughter later on. However, the judge did not seem to be moved by the age of the criminal.
Nicholas Clarke QC, prosecuting, said, "There were a number of witnesses who all similarly relate to a friendly encounter with the deceased.
"Unexpectedly there was this one punch thrown by the defendant."
According to The Gazette , after hearing the case, Judge Anthony Russell QC told the teenager, "You have now pleaded guilty to a serious offence."
"You should be under no illusions that for an offence of manslaughter the first type of sentence the court considers is a custodial sentence, notwithstanding your age," the judge said.
Mr Walker was born in the Pollok area of Glasgow and described himself on Facebook as a 'graduate from Glasgow Caledonian University'. He had posted a series of photographs of himself in Celtic gear, supporting Celtic and the previous manager Neil Lennon.
Walker's sister Harriet posted a photo online of the two of them together with the caption: 'My lovely brother. Can't take it in, we never see each other again.'
Walker's nephew Luke said, "I'm in bits. We had such a good night as well. Then this happened."
