"Stranger Things" actor Matthew Modine joins Signe Baumane's animated feature film "My Love Affair With Marriage." His casting came out after his Screen Actors Guild Awards win as a member of the hit drama series.
According to Variety, Modine will voice the second husband in "My Love Affair With Marriage." He has a shocking secret that eventually destroys his marriage. He will also executive produce with his producing partner Adam Rackoff for their company, Cinco Dedos Peliculas.
"My Love Affair With Marriage" follows a fiery young woman with a wild imagination as she journeys through many marriages while confronting societal pressures. Some marriages were real, and some are imaginary.
Baumane not only wrote the script but also is directing "My Love Affair With Marriage," alongside Sturgis Warner as producer. His Kickstarter campaign for the film has raised more than $22,000 from more than 200 backers and ends on Feb. 24. The supporters can receive original animation drawings from the film.
Besides his project in "My Love Affair With Marriage," Modine plays Dr. Martin Brenner on Netflix's highly acclaimed original drama "Stranger Things," which won the SAG award Sunday for top drama series. He will be next seen in the upcoming projects such as the "Sicario" sequel "Soldado" and Comedy Central's "Idiotsitter."
In "Soldado" movie, Modine's character is Secretary of Defense Director James Ridley opposite "Get Out" actress Catherine Keener, who plays his Deputy Director, Deadline reported. "Escobar: Paradise Lost" actor Benicio del Toro and "Hail, Caesar!" actor Josh Brolin will recur their roles from the original film "Sicario" for the Lionsgate and Black Label Media.
In animation, Modine has worked extensively, voicing characters in "A Cat in Paris" and "Mia and the Migoo." His several Bill Plympton projects include "Santa," "The Fascist Years," and "The Flying House."
As for his directing career, Modine recently mounted the feature "The Rocking Horsemen," which focuses on five high school boys who started a band in 1962. He also completed production on the British comedy "Hippopotamus," which is a novel adaptation from author Stephen Fry. He is represented by APA, The Artists Partnership, and Untitled Management.
