Everyone is waiting for the biggest updates concerning the future of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11. Although everything seems uncertain, Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter, shed some light on the speculations that there would be no next season for the hit CBS comedy show.
Talks that "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11 will be cancelled began when the contracts of the cast members ended at the end of Season 10. It is said that the top three biggest cast members that include Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and Galecki are still negotiating about their contracts at no definite time frame.
"We're very much talking about [the show's future] right now," Galecki told Entertainment Weekly. "It seems that the writers are very confident and excited that they can write some more after this year, which is an incredible testament to them."
Galecki, who is currently promoting his new film "Rings," expressed his confidence that the show could last longer because the writers are still eager to write more for the future episodes. However, he did not specify whether the upcoming episodes could be longer than "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11.
Back in September 2016, Cuoco, who plays Penny, admitted to Jimmy Kimmel during her appearance at the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that the future of "The Big Bang Theory" is a money matter. Reports revealed that Cuoco, Parsons and Galecki are receiving $1 million per episode.
Meanwhile, amidst the talks that there will be no "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11, CBS previously expressed that they are hoping for more "The Big Bang Theory" episodes. Digital Spy quoted CBS chief Glenn Geller as saying at the Television Critics Association's press tour that they are hoping that the comedy series will surpass Season 10. The CBS showrunner added that they wish it could be forever.
The speculations surrounding "The Big Bang Theory's" future came at the same time that a Sheldon spin-off was announced. The prequel will be focusing on the teenage years of Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and his life with his family in Texas.
"The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 episode 15 titled "The Locomotion Reverberation" will air on Feb. 9, Thursday. The season is expected to have 24 episodes. Watch Cuoco's interview at the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on the video below:
