A recent report from The Guardian said that decision to suspend "Top Gear" host Jeremy Clarkson will cost broadcast company BBC several millions in loses. The report added that the suspension makes Clarkson eligible for proper compensation and the foreign broadcaster might end up being lured by other TV companies.
The suspension of Clarkson came from an allegation that the broadcaster punched a member of the production team while filming an episode on a location in Newcastle. Additionally, two of the last three remaining episodes of the current season of "Top Gear" were also cancelled.
Clarkson's co-host of Top Gear" James May confirmed the suspension news on Wednesday. He added that Clarkson had been "involved in a bit of a dust-up." Both Clarkson and the BBC networking declined to make a statement regarding the issue. According to some rumors, Clarkson punched the show's producer Oisin Tymon when he learned that no hot food was set after a whole day of filming was done.
Some reporters were able to catch Clarkson outside of his house in London and when he was asked about the issue he only said, "I've been suspended, haven't I? I'm just off to the job center. At least I'm going to be able to get to the Chelsea match tonight."
On the other hand, more than 450,000 fans of the "Top Gear" series have already signed a worldwide petition in order to reinstate Clarkson back at his motoring show, according to Reuters.
Clarkson has been known for his passion for cars as well as his humor and banters that have managed to offend several groups ranging from cyclists, mental health charities and even Mexico's London ambassador.
