BTS fans looking forward to the promotions of the K-Pop group's new album have been left disappointed. The boy band's new song from their comeback album, "Wings: YOU NEVER Walk ALONE," was banned from a KBS broadcast.
On Feb. 8, KBS decided to pull out BTS' new song from its broadcast after a thorough judging process deemed the track unsuitable for broadcast on the major Korean network, according to Koreaboo. "Interlude: Wings" is the track by the Bangtan Boys that failed to meet KBS's broadcasting standards.
BTS's agency BIG Hit Entertainment told the publication that the group was scheduled to perform "Interlude: Wings" along with their title track for promotions but will now only perform the title song. The reason the track was regarded unsuitable for broadcast on KBS was because of the use of obscene language in the song.
In the song, there is one part in particular that has the line, "Saeggiya, don't be scared," which would seem harmless to international fans but the way in which the lyrics are expressed, it can easily be assumed as a profanity. "Saeggiya" is a word that is often used by an elder person to refer to the younger generation in a profane way. Therefore, the track was declared unfit for the airwaves.
The agency also announced via a statement obtained by All Kpop that BTS will be performing new tracks from their album, "Wings: YOU NEVER WALK ALONE" at their concert in Seoul later this month. The idol group will perform three new tracks from the upcoming album; "Not Today", "You Never Walk Alone", and "Spring Days."
"The (upcoming) 'Wings Tour' is the last series to 'BTS Live Trilogy Episode' that started in 2014," the agency told the publication. "It will conclude the series and complete the performances' storytelling. Furthermore, it'll gift fans with performances of the new tracks."
Fans will get to see their favorite boy band perform the tracks at the "2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour" at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on Feb. 18 and 19. Meanwhile, BTS' full album has been scheduled for release on Feb. 13.
