The latest updates for "Red Dead Redemption 2" will feature new details on the online multiplayer and a possible release date on October 2017.
It seems that more details on "Red Dead Redemption 2's" online multiplayer mode have been revealed as Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick teased some looming announcements, and even shared a brief quote about the game’s online component.
Zelnick told several investors that "Red Dead Redemption 2's" sales potential in perspective, revealing that its predecessor shipped over 15 million units in the course of its run, including 8.5 million units in the first year. Unfortunately, Zelnick did not say what those numbers suggest about the sequel's sales, but one has to assume that Take-Two expects the game to outpace its predecessor.
In order to do so. Rockstar Games and Take-two will have to think of ways to hype the gamers in buying "Red Dead Redemption 2" as Zelnick added that the marketing team in Take-Two will share ideas to make the sequel interesting and marketable.
As for the online multiplayer, Zelnick stated that the feature will not not "cannibalize" the "GTA Online" mode of "Grand Theft Auto 5" as he believed that both online games will succeed in their own way. How "Red Dead Redemption 2's" online mode will differ from "GTA Online" is unclear, but it would not be surprising to see the Western sequel take a few pages out of the open world crime game’s playbook, GameSpot reported.
In other news, several rumors are making rounds regarding "Red Dead Redemption 2's" possible release date.
British retail website Littlewoods put a placeholder for "Red Dead Redemption 2" having a Oct. 2 release for the PS4 and possibly the Xbox One. The start of October does seem quite early for a launch of this scale, however, based on last year’s release schedule it would also likely put it out ahead of the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefront 2.
There is also the added problem of Rockstar Games of their track record of having to delay games. The first "Red Dead Redemption" game had to be pushed back a month to make way for further polishing, so even if Littlewoods were spot on the launch date, the game could still come out on a different date.
So far, Rockstar Games has not yet commended on the Oct. 2 release date as gaming fans will have to wait for further news and announcements from them this year.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" will be release on the Fall 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
