Reigning WBO welterweight world champ Manny Pacquiao is confident about his chance against the undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. Leading up to their May 2nd showdown at MGM Garden in Las Vegas Nevada, saying he has the tools to break down the seemingly impregnable shoulder-roll defense of Money May.
Pacquiao, 36, said in an interview on Showtime Boxing minutes following Wednesday's press conference at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles that he is not much worried about Mayweather's shell-like defense, as he believed he's capable of doing what the 47 fighters failed to do against the Grand Rapids native in previous fights.
"The game plan is the same," Pacquiao stressed via Showtime. "He has a good defense but I am not worried about that. I can easily break that defense."
Known as one of the most dynamic offensive fighters of all time, Pacquiao will be banking on his speed, power and terrific stamina as he attempts to crack down Mayweather's shoulder-roll defense that has made wonders for the American dating back to his amateur years.
Mayweather, arguably the best defensive fighter in boxing's history, has no doubts that his defense along with his savvy ring generalship would be too much for Pacquiao to handle comes their Cinco de Mayo fight date.
If the first and only press conference before the fight week would serve as the basis, the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao showdown is pretty much on its way to living up to the hype as the most lucrative boxing bout in history, generating as high as $500 million in gross money (including Pay-per-View buys, gates and merchandize sales).
