Nintendo Switch will be getting a "Splatoon 2" demo starting in March. The multiplayer shooter will not be part of the launch titles for the hybrid game console but the demo will showcase that the device is well-suited for tournaments.
"Splatoon 2" is a sequel to the original multiplayer game from Nintendo. The current title was a surprise hit despite it not explicitly showing gore or mindless violence. It has also been a title for video game tournaments held across the globe.
Nintendo will be holding a Global Testfire event for "Splatoon 2" on the new Switch console starting from March 24 up to March 26, Euro Gamer has learned. The tournament will also be showing four weapons that players will be able to choose from.
The "Splatoon 2" Global Testfire event will also serve as a stress test for Nintendo Switch severs. If there are any bugs or difficulties, developers will still have time to fix them before the game's launch.
"Two years have passed since the original 'Splatoon' and since then, the weapons, maps and characters in that world have evolved," "Splatoon" producer Hisashi Nogami said in a statement obtained by Wired UK. "Through the 'Splatoon 2' Global Testfire event this March, players will be able to get a taste of that. There will be more new features to 'Splatoon 2,' so please look forward to more reveals in the future."
Nintendo will also be using the Switch companion app for "Splatoon 2." It will act as a matchmaker for the players and also a communicator for their friends. Users will be able to set matches with their friends by choosing a time or date when they will be reminded. Voice chat is also included in the app.
"Splatoon 2" will not be launched as the same day as the Nintendo Switch. However, the game is set to be released come summer time. Watch the trailer below:
