"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 star Nina Dobrev is officially back as Elena Gilbert.

In a new teaser released by The CW for episode 16, Elena wakes up after several years of deep slumber, and she does not have any clue what happened to her and her friends.

Prior to the actress' exit, Elena was put under a spell by Kai and this resulted in her sleeping for a long time. Her boyfriend, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), was devastated by her death, but he could not do anything to save the lead character.

This week in "The Vampire Diaries," Kai returned to Mystic Falls to fulfill Damon's wish that he get rid of the spell he put on Elena. Since he is now threatened by him, Kai will willingly oblige.

Meanwhile, Dobrev confirmed her return to "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 a few weeks ago via a cryptic post on her Instagram account. The actress shared a photo of the script for episode 16 with her name printed on it.

Dobrev reunited with her co-stars last week including Somerhalder's wife, Nikki Reed. When the filming wrapped up, everyone on the set became a tad bit emotional. In fact, TV Line reported that all of the cast members posted a tribute about the show and their co-stars on social media.

Paul Wesley posted an emotional tweet after the filming for the episode wrapped up. He also took the time to thank their fans for their support throughout the eight seasons. Kat Graham posted a short video featuring some of her character Bonnie's most memorable moments in the hit The CW series.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, episode 16 will air on The CW on March 10 at 8 p.m. EST.
