"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 recently saw Alex (Justin Chambers) reuniting with Jo (Camilla Luddington). Since the former did not go to jail because Andrew de Luca (Giacomo Gianniotti) lifted the case against him, he saw Jo in the final scene in the hit ABC series.
After hugging each other tightly, a sign that they missed each other a lot, Jo decided to leave Alex behind. This move signifies that even though Jo missed Alex, her feelings for him are no longer enough for them to get back together.
Alex also had an emotional look on his face, and he was surprised that Jo did not stay with him.
Meanwhile, Luddington is pregnant in real life, and the actress is unsure whether or not her pregnancy will be written into the show. But if Jo will not get back together with Alex, this storyline will be next to impossible unless Jo will be knocked up by someone else.
There are rumors that Jo and Andrew will find comfort in each other's arms, and Alex will be receiving support from his best friend, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). This also paves the way for a new storyline for Season 14 that was recently confirmed by the network.
In the future episodes, Alex and Meredith could finally be together. After all, they are two of the original characters from the series, and they have also been working with each other for years.
Unfortunately, some fans oppose the idea of an Alex-Meredith romance, and they want the two to just stay as friends. In an interview with E! News last year, "Grey's Anatomy" executive producer Betsy Beers said that Alex and Meredith are just best friends, and they will stay as such for as long as possible.
On the other hand, Beers said that a relationship between Alex and Meredith makes a whole lot of sense. But it will just depend on executive producer Shonda Rhimes whether this is a storyline that she would want to explore. After all, Jolex shippers are also very serious about wanting Jo and Alex to end up together.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
