Amazon will be shipping the Samsung Chromebook Plus to both users in the United States and the United Kingdom. There seems to be limited availability as the product listing claims that it will take one to two months before the device will be shipped to either of the two countries.
Samsung's Chromebook Plus is one of the most expensive models that run the Chrome OS. Compared to the other models, it boasts better specs and a more appealing visual look. The OLED panel for the 12.3-inch display and its 2400 x 1600 pixels resolution also adds to the worth of the device.
The Samsung Chromebook Plus shipping fee is not free and it will cost more than $100 for U.K. customers, Chrome Unboxed has learned. That would put the total cost of ordering the device at about $550 since the original price of the hybrid laptop tablet itself is $449.
Amazon has not disclosed the reason as to why there is a huge delay in the shipping but limited stock and back orders may be the reasons, Android Headlines reported. There is also no announcement whether the device will be officially launched in the U.K. by Samsung.
Unfortunately, the device is available in only one color as of this writing. It is the same platinum silver color scheme the other Chromebooks have. To recap the specs, Samsung's Plus variant has 4GB of LPDDR3 memory and has an internal storage capacity of 32GB. Users can expand the storage using an SD card thanks to the device's reader.
For video calls, the Chromebook Plus has a 720p webcam with an internal mic. Users will be able to connect wirelessly thanks to the Marvell wireless LAN card and the Bluetooth 4.0 standard.
Interested customers can buy the Samsung Chromebook Plus from Amazon and other online retailers. Updates on the availability are expected to be announced soon.
