Tennis sensation Eugenie Bouchard kept her end of the bargain, taking 20-year-old John Goehrke out on a date. Both were spotted at the Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks game following a bet made on social media.
Eugenie Bouchard was so confident she would win the bet rooting for the Atlanta Falcons. For those who caught Super Bowl LI, it seemed like she made a good call. That was until Tom Brady decided to buckle down to work and pull off a miracle.
With the sudden turn of events, the Canadian tennis star and Sports Illustrated model found herself on the wrong end of the deal. While she could have easily shunned the bet, the media attention it got may have played a part for her to fulfill her end.
“After all the media attention it got, it was something I could, first of all, not back out of. There was no chance..” Bouchard was quoted of saying according to the Mirror.
Aside from that, Bouchard admitted that she was clueless on who the mystery date was. The Twitter profile of Goehrke showed a picture of Tiger Woods (likely a golf fan) so the Canadian was clueless on how his date looked like.
But based on the posts she made after flying to New York, everything seemed well and good. The 20-year-old student from Missouri became one of the luckiest guys on earth. Both got courtside seats to the Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks game, something that Goehrke later said was the best date ever, the Daily Mail reported.
Seeing how she lucked out, Eugenie Bouchard may want to think twice about doubling down. Though there was a publicity angle tied to it, her call against the Patriots backed her to a corner.
For Goehrke, it was the exact opposite. It was a gamble that handsomely paid off though Bouchard may want to lay off the betting part moving forward.
Bouchard proved that she is a woman of her word and keeps her promises. With that light moment out of the way, she is expected to return to her usual routine.
Eugenie Bouchard is coming off a sterling outing at the Australian Open. She now heads to the WTA Tour tournaments to resume active competition. For those who are unaware, the Canadian tennis sensation is ranked 45 in women’s singles tennis.
