Bray Wyatt will enter WrestleMania 33 as the WWE champion but he has no clear opponent. Randy Orton announced that he will not use his title shot. However, the latest WWE rumors that a Triple Threat Match for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 33 is in the works.
In this week's SmackDown Live, Bray successfully defended his WWE title against John Cena and A.J. Styles. Orton came to the ring after the match and declared that he's not going to use the title shot he earned by winning the 2017 Royal Rumble Match.
As reported by WWE.com, SmackDown Live Daniel Bryan announced on Talking Smack that the New No. 1 contender will be determined next week. The winner of the Battle Royal is going to face Bray for the WWE championship at WrestleMania 33.
According to Cageside Seats, the WWE's plan is still to Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton at WrestleMania 33. However, it will depend on the winner of the Battle Royal as it could turn into a Triple Threat Match. The rumored winner of the Battle Royal is Luke Harper.
Harper has been on a mission to exploit Orton's plan in destroying The Wyatt Family. He seemingly turned face when he attacked both Bray and Orton several weeks ago. He also teamed up with Cena to face his former Wyatt Family brothers in a tag team match on SmackDown.
It should be noted that these are still just rumors at the moment and nothing has been finalized. But all the signs are pointing to a possible Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 33. Orton is clearly going to turn on Bray before WrestleMania 33.
The only question remaining is will Harper win the Battle Royal or the WWE gives it to someone like Styles, who deserves to main event WrestleMania 33 after carrying SmackDown on his back last year. His feud with Shane McMahon looks inevitable but plans can always change.
The WWE tends to change their plans on a regular basis but the best way to go in terms of storytelling is Bray vs. Orton vs. Harper for the WWE championship. Fans also cannot count out Erick Rowan, who is expected to return from injury. The original members of The Wyatt Family could reunite at WrestleMania 33 with Bray standing tall as champion.
