Dunne told The Mirror in an interview that he was overwhelmed by the praise he got from Triple H, who is the creator of the tournament, as well as other legends like Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho. The 24-year-old star was very thankful for the great words from some of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
"It was absolutely surreal the stuff that Triple H was saying. I was getting loads of tweets from people saying that Shawn Michaels had talked about me on Chris Jericho's podcast and then I got to meet Shawn Michaels when I was over in Florida," Dunne said.
The Birmingham native also talked Bate, who defeated him the in the U.K. tournament finals. He had nothing but praised for the 19-year-odl WWE U.K. champion. He revealed that they have been wrestling each other for many years and they are good friends.
"I think he's incredible. I always say to him he could be anything he wants to be. He could be the best wrestler in the world, the best powerlifter, the best bodybuilder. It's special for us in many ways, but I had a hand in training Tyler," Dunne said.
"I'm very proud of him. He had his first match with me and his first bookings. It was a really cool moment and I couldn't be happier for him," he added.
According to Wrestling Inc, Dunne and Bate, along with other competitors from the U.K. tournament will be flying to Florida for WrestleMania 33 weekend. They are expected to wrestle matches in several NXT tapings while still being under PROGRESS wrestling.
