The video game version of Apocalypse Now is definitely an ambitious project, however, it could either turn either very nicely or very poorly.

According to Eurogamer, it is reported that the new site will not have any specific deadline and the developer promised to update folks on the progress of the game during the entire process of its development. The Kickstarter dipped due to the death of assets, like gameplay, to signpost the developer's promotion and this appears like a direct response to that.

"ApocalypseNow.com will be an engaging space where fans and backers can get the latest updates, communicate with the team making the game and continue to support the project through the entirety of the game's development cycle," Erebus, the developer says.

"The team will rely on this dialogue with the community to help them to create an Apocalypse Now game worthy of the motion picture in every way."

Meanwhile, Digital trends reported that in January, it was announced that Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now would be implemented into a video game, and a Kickstarter campaign was introduced to fund development. Now, the campaign is coming to a close and donations haven't come close to meet the pledge target, so the project's organizers are working on a different strategy.

According to a report from VG247, the campaign will move from Kickstarter to a dedicated independent site. Those who already pledged money will be able to upgrade own reward tier for free by just proving that the donation was made to Kickstarter.

The new site will evidently be a community for a hub for backers, as well as a source of collecting pledges. Presently, this caters to embedded content feeds from Reddit and Instagram, yet the announcement of team indicates that it will soon be hosting community events and livestreams featuring development staff.
