The CW's "Riverdale," the gritty modern update on the classic "Archie" comics, is receiving rave reviews from viewers and critics and stirring a lot of buzz. It appears that fans may be seeing more of Archie and the gang as the publisher behind "Archie" comics inks a deal with Warner Bros. Television to develop more of its titles for another TV show.

Archie CEO Jon Goldwater tells The Hollywood Reporter that the company's deal with Warner Bros. Television goes beyond the core Riverdale crew that includes Archie, Betty and Veronica as currently seen in "Riverdale."

The deal could mean that fans would get to see other "Archie"-related titles such as "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," The Mighty Crusaders and other superheroes under the company's Dark Circle imprint, and even a spinoff that would focus primary on Josie and the Pussycats.

"Archie is unique in that we have a huge library of characters that are not only recognizable, but they're successful and entertaining," Goldwater says.

The CW has made a stable run of DC Comics shows including "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow, "Supergirl" and "The Flash," which means the network is no stranger to picking up comic franchises and expanding them on TV.

"Riverdale" is the latest stage in Goldwater's plan to modernize the world of "Archie." The transition started in 2010 when the comics introduced Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in the comics' long history. The comics have also covered Archie and his friends as adults struggling with married life.

Meanwhile, "Riverdale" will air its fifth episode, "Heart of Darkness" this week. As per Comicbook, the Blossom family undertake last minute preparations for Jason's funeral, while Betty furthers her investigation into the latter's death and discovers some of the family's dark secrets. In the wake of Miss Grundy's exit from town, Archie refocuses his energy on football but is sidetracked when the opportunity to work with another music teacher arises.

Veronica's mom, Hermione, on the other hand, seeks help from Fred Andrews after receiving a cryptic message from the Southside Serpents.

"Riverdale" airs every Thursday on The CW.
