Song Ji Hyo has been juggling several hats in her career in the South Korean entertainment industry from being a print ad model to a cast member in a variety show. However, the "Running Man" star revealed that among her various titles, being labeled as an actress was most burdensome for her.
The said "Running Man" cast member gave a candid interview with beauty magazine Allure Korea, as cited by Xports News, where she shared her thoughts about her career. Song revealed that she felt burdened with being called an actress given the public's expectations of how female celebrities should behave.
With the general perception that South Korean actresses should act demure and lady-like, Song's image was more of a boyish kind of actress. Embarrassed with how people treat her given her profession, the "Emergency Couple" star admitted that she would sometimes cringe when she is expected to act like a typical actress.
Song confessed that she would rather have other people treat her as a serious actor and a hardworking professional. Given her passion for acting, she is looking forward to showcasing more of her talents in future endeavors.
When asked about Song's upcoming movie or drama project, she commented that she is still looking for a new production to serve as her follow-up to the JTBC drama "This Week, My Wife is Having an Affair." Comparing acting opportunities to finding an ideal fashion ensemble, she mentioned how there might be offers or projects that will not suit her perfectly.
Meanwhile, Song recently added a new cap to her career by taking on hosting duties for her own beauty program. Titled "Song Ji Hyo's Beauty View," the said show gave the South Korean celebrity a chance to meet beauty experts and learn helpful tips to stay pretty.
In an earlier press conference, the show's Producing Director (PD) Lee Min Woo gushed over Song's bare face and described it as one of the prettiest in South Korea. Lee also commended the "Running Man" star's for her honest image on variety programs, All Kpop quoted the PD as saying.
Song's beauty programs airs every Thursday on JTBC2, while "Running Man" episodes are released every Sunday on SBS. Watch a clip from the SBS variety show below:
