If reports are anything to go by, Pokemon Go is allowing a few gamers to hatch eggs without walking.
Hatching eggs in the game can yield new Pokemon; however, it is not usually done so easily. Pokemon Go gamers have to place eggs in incubators and, depending on the kind of egg, walk 10 kilometers, 5 kilometers or 2 kilometers or 6 miles to hatch eggs.
It is important to note that the Pokemon Go counts the gamer's distance walked only if the game is open on the device. Gamers have begun reporting that the in-game GPS tracking is extremely inaccurate. The GPS inaccuracy logs in-game steps so easily that Pokemon Go gamers are hatching eggs with no or little effort.
According to a Reddit user, the GPS drift is so great here that he can hatch tons of eggs easily. The user further said that he drifted 500 m to the east and got to capture a Dunsparce that he didn't have yet. On the go he didn't drift at all. His smartphone is a Samsung Galaxy S7.
Other Pokemon Go players report similar ease in hatching eggs without strolling much, and it appears that Samsung devices, particularly the Galaxy S7, are vulnerable to this Pokémon Go GPS drift. Furthermore, one gamer hatched a 10 km egg in less than 3 hours by unlocking the phone's screen every couple of minutes.
The GPS drift is not working for all and the inaccuracy really makes things worse for other gamers. A few Pokemon Go players report being stuck at a particular distance despite their character moving up and down the street.
Some players complain that the distance they walk is either only partially registered or not registered. Pokemon Go has always had a slight GPS drift; however, the inaccuracy is now worse than ever. According to reports, it may be connected to the latest Pokemon Go update that brought about 80 Generation 2 Pokemon.
It is not clear whether the Niantic company did some tweaking for the GPS step tracking with its newest update or it is only a coincidence. Gamers report the tracking has gone erratic recently. At present, a few gamers are hatching many eggs without doing much walking.
Meanwhile, next week, the company will hold an event inside of Pokemon Go to celebrate Pokemon Day.
Beginning on February 26, each Pikachu that gamers encounter in Pokemon Go will be donning a festive party hat. If players capture Pikachu during the event, they will get to keep the party hat forever,
