"Game of Thrones" actor Alfie Allen is on board to the upcoming "The Predator" reboot. He is joining the film's star-studded cast, which includes Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevant Rhodes, Sterling K. Knight and Jacob Tremblay. Thomas Jane is also reportedly joining the cast.
20 Century Fox's "The Predator" film has begun shooting in Vancouver, Canada with Boyd Holbrook leading the star-studded sci-fi feature. Allen will play an ex-Marine who teams up with others, including Holbrook's character, to stop the human-hunting aliens, The Hollywood Reporter wrote. The film has a different setting compared to other "Predator" films since the action will take place in suburbia.
Holbrook, on the other hand, is also an ex-Marine who first discovered about the existence of aliens on Earth. However, he is having trouble finding someone who would actually believe him.
Shane Black is directing the movie with a script he co-wrote with Fed Dekker. In an interview with Digital Spy, Black teased that the movie is not purely gritty action, but will be an overall fun experience.
"I think there's a tremendous mistake today in assuming that a movie has to choose one tone solely, consistently throughout, and just stick to that tone," Black explained.
The 2018 "The Predator" movie has been described as a reboot of the hit sci-fi action movie franchise. However, it has been said that the film will be made in reference to John McTiernan's 1987 original movie.
"I think it has to stand on its own two feet, but our goal is to make sure it acknowledges that, yeah, it is 30 years later in the continuity of the story," Black said about the 2018 reboot. "In other words, Dutch Schaefer's patrol, which was attacked and largely slaughtered, happened 30 years ago in the context of the story. It's referenced, it's part of the mythology."
There is no word yet as to the plot of "The Predator," but producer John Davis excitedly revealed that Dekker and Black's "writing is so fresh" that it's not something fans will be expecting.
"The Predator" release date is expected on Feb. 9, 2018.
