Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mitteneare has confirmed that she is not a lesbian and that she has a boyfriend.
The recently crowned Iris Mitteneare from France welcomed controversies on the start of her reign. But she has set the record straight regarding her sexuality and debunked the lesbian rumors that spread like wildfire online earlier this month.
The rumor mill claimed that Iris Mitteneare is dating a beauty queen and Miss France 2014 Camille Cerf. The basis is mainly her photos with Cerf on Instagram. Netizens noticed that Mitteneare has few photos with guys that sparked the malicious speculations.
"Camille is my best friend and I love my boyfriend Matthieu," she told GMA News. "I really love her, but I am not with her. She is not my girlfriend."
Unfortunately, that is not the case as Iris boyfriend Matthieu Declercq was, in fact, watching and cheering for her during the coronation day of the Miss Universe at the Mall of Asia Arena on Jan. 30. Matthieu is a dentist. At the pageant, Iris revealed that she aspires to be a dentist. Aside from a penchant for oral hygiene, the couple shares interests like football and travelling.
While it is true that the reigning Miss Universe have few photos with her man, they have matching photos to prove that they are in the same place at the same time. On New Year's, the couple flew to Dubai where they celebrated before Mitteneare is bound to the Philippines where the pageant was held.
Iris ended the 63-year Miss U drought for France when she won the crown at the recently concluded beauty pageant. Right now, she is based in New York attending to her duties as Miss Universe 2016.
