Central City is gearing up for a Gorilla invasion in the upcoming "The Flash" Season 3 episode 14. Team Flash will have their hands full with Grood's (voiced by David Sobolov) attack on the city that might claim Barry's (Grant Gustin) closest friend Cisco (Carlos Valdes) as one of its injured victims.
The two-part Grood-centric episode in "The Flash" Season 3 is set to culminate in a huge battle between Gorillas, humans and metahumans. Titled "Attack on Central City," viewers can expect to see Barry, Cisco and his friends teaming up with Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and the police force to fight the sentient ape's army.
However, a Team Flash member will become one of Grood's victims in the CW show's upcoming episode. In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Aaron Helbing teased that the life of "someone very close to Barry" will get threatened. Given Grood's ability to overtake any person, the said villain will harm one of Barry's friends and will "almost kill him."
The situation will make Barry consider killing the said telepathic gorilla in the hope that Grood's death will keep everyone safe and change Iris deadly fate, according to the showrunner. Helbing also shared that Barry and Cisco will team up other speedsters such as Kid Flash ((Keiynan Lonsdale), Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) and Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) in the upcoming fight.
Meanwhile, Grood will also use Gypsy to find a way back to Central City. Featured towards the end of "The Flash" Season 3 episode 13, the said villain had her as his back-up plan should his attempt to use Cisco's Vibe power fail, which it did.
Gaining control of Gypsy's mind, Grood will try to infiltrate Team Flash through her. Gypsy's odd behavior will serve as a clue to Barry, Cisco and his friends that the said villain found his way back to Central City, according to Helbing.
In other news, the showrunner may not have mentioned the name of Grood's victim among Barry's friends. However, the promo clip for the upcoming episode posted on Spoilers Guide hinted of the said character's identity.
A scene in the said clip showed Cisco flying backward against what appears to be an electrical fuse box. Landing sideways on the floor with sparks around him, it is unclear whether other members of Team Flash were with Cisco when the attack happened.
"The Flash" Season 3 episode 14 will air on Feb. 28, Tuesday, on the CW. Watch a teaser clip below:
