The latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update is rolling out to Nexus 6 smartphone first, while older Nexus devices will receive OS update in stages.
According to tech website Tech Times, the new version of the Lollipop operating system from Android is seeded by carriers to Google Nexus 6 handsets. US carrier Sprint, which is one of the first carriers to offer the Nexus 6, said that it is pushing the update to the handset. Verizon Wireless, on the other hand, started selling the new smartphone from Google on Mar. 12 stated that it will ship devices pre-installed with Android 5.1.
Meanwhile, Nexus 4, 5, 7, and 10 will also receive the new OS update via over-the-air. However, the release of the software depends on the country and the carrier. Thus, the release of the update is staggered. There is no information about firmware reaching the Nexus 9 tablet.
In addition, the Android 5.1 was first rolled out to Android One devices in Indonesia and Philippines.
