The eighth installment of the "Fast and Furious" movies titled "The Fate of the Furious" will hit theaters on April 15. Fans are aware that Helen Mirren will be part of the sequel but they did not know what role she is playing until recently.
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, "Beauty and the Beast" star Luke Evans was asked whether or not his "Fast and Furious" character Owen Shaw will be featured in "The Fate of the Furious." The character fell from an airplane in "Fast and Furious 6" and was seen in a coma in "Furious 7."
Evans will not be in "The Fate of the Furious" but he pointed out that it is not impossible for his character to return in future sequels. He said, "People come around from comas, so who knows?"
As Evans explained, Owen is in a military hospital because he is the most wanted man in the world. He added that the character has "a very powerful brother, and he's now got a mum as well, who's played by Helen Mirren."
Owen is the brother of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). The name of their mother played by Mirren has yet to be revealed.
Written by Chris Morgan based on the characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, "The Fate of the Furious" is directed by F. Gary Gray. Among Statham and Mirren's co-stars are Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Scott Eastwood, Kurt Russell, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Kristofer Hivju, Ludacris, Charlize Theron, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Elsa Pataky and Nathalie Emmanuel, among others.
After "The Fate of the Furious," Statham will reprise his role as Lee Christmas in "The Expendables 4." He will reunite with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, who will reprise their respective roles as Trench and Barney Ross.
Meanwhile, Statham will be featured in the latest of Men's Health. Watch the official trailer of "The Fate of the Furious" here:
