Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu had a health scare which made her faint recently. She shared at a promotional event on Sunday what happened in February.
Toggle reported that after she lost consciousness, Barbie Hsu could feel her husband Wang Xiaofei, a Chinese businessman, shaking her and yelling. He was shouting, “Honey! What happened to you! Honey! Speak to me!” She replied, “I’m going to vomit soon” for her husband to stop shaking her.
Barbie Hsu’ Heart Condition
She then blacked out which prompted Wang Xiaofei to bring her to the hospital which saved Barbie Hsu’s life. The reason for her fainting was a relapse of mitral valve prolapse, a heart condition that the actress had. The immediate cause was she over exerted herself, Asiaone reported.
Dizziness is just one of the symptoms of mitral valve prolapse. Other symptoms include irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, chest pain and fatigue.
Barbie woke up again in a hospital and saw her teary-eyed husband beside her and holding tightly to her hand. The health scare made Wang Xiaofei insist 40-year-old Barbie Hsu to have an executive check-up and to constantly always take supplements daily upon returning home.
Difficult Childbirth
The couple has two children – 2-year-old Wang Xiyue and nine-month-old Wang Zilin. She married Wang Xiaofei in 2011 and gave birth in 2014 and 2016. She almost died when she gave birth to Wang Zilin because of a difficult delivery. In a post on Weibo, Wang Xiaofei recalled that Barbie Hsu showed symptoms of coma when she experienced sudden oxygen loss because of exhaustion, abdominal cramps and allergic reaction to pain medication while delivering her second child.
Barbie Hsu is famous for her role in the hit Taiwanese TV series “Meteor Garden" which is an adaptation of the Japanese manga “Hana Yori Dango.” The manga was adapted in Korea as “Boys Over Flowers,” starring Lee Min Ho and Gu Hye Sun, according to Drama Fever.
