Liu Jiazhu, a 13-year-old Chinese boy, impressed netizens with his guitar skills when he performed “Thunderstruck.” He did a rendition of the cover song of Luca Stricagnoli, an Italian guitarist, on acoustic guitar.
People’s Daily China posted the video of Liu Jiazhu’s performance which Mirror said might be even better than the cover of Luca Stricagnoli. After the post of Twitter, netizens gave their thumbs up.
Video goes Viral
According to Jacarandafm, it was a schoolmate who posted online the performance of the Chinese teen, and it became a viral video. Liu Jiazhu learned to play the guitar when he was seven years old.
One netizen commented that Liu Jiazhu rocks and if the boy would have a show, he would buy a ticket. Another said the Chinese teen has amazing talent. A third commenter said the boy has a lot more to show.
“Thunderstruck” was the lead single of the AC/DC band’s 1990 album “The Razor’s Edge.” Besides Lica Stricagnoli’s version, the song has been covered by other artists such as Bagpiper Gordon Duncan and Blizzard Brothers, an Australian house duo.
International Guitar Summit
Meanwhile, The Saint Anselm Crier, a student publication, reported in February that Luca Stricagnoli was among four guitar virtuosos who performed at The International Guitar Summit on Feb. 10 at the Dana Center. The three other guitarists were Lulo Reinhardt from Germany, Debashish Bhattacharya from India and Christian Dozza from Brazil.
Luca Stricagnoli’s first piece was an original composition. He followed it with a two-guitar performance of “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’ Roses. The Italian musician was given a standing ovation.
Because the four guitarists came from different countries, music became the translator for the night because it is a universal language. The summit highlighted the importance of having diverse cultural experiences.
