It was in March 2016 when the most recent addition to the iPad series was released. Now, recent reports suggest that that the fourth iPad could be an addition to the Pro line.
According to SlashGear, the three new iPads that were revealed were the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2, a 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a 9.7-inch entry-level iPad. There was no new iPad Air model launched since the iPad Air 2 in 2014, so reports that the new iPad that is set to be revealed would be an iteration to the iPad Air in its number 3 form. However, retailers list that the fourth iPad could be a Pro as well.
Since the iPads are quite expensive, buyers are looking for a cheaper model. There were rumors about an iPad Mini Pro in October, but since then, no new rumor has sprouted. Surprisingly, speculations about it have resurfaced when sources cited that the fourth iPad may be an iPad Mini Pro.
Furthermore, according to Phone Arena, the iPad Pro 12.9-inch and 10.5-inch would be powered by an A10X chip, while the iPad Pro 9.7-inch would be powered only by the A9 chip, same as the chip powering Apple's iPhone 6s. These iPads would be available in Space Grey, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold with their native 32 GB/128 GB/256 GB storage options. The new iPads are expected to be unveiled, but it seems that the Apple iPad Pro 10.5 inch may not be revealed until the end of next month.
Although the iPad Mini Pro is still a rumor, reports say that the gadget enthusiasts are interested in how Apple would position this new version of iPad. The 9.7-inch iPad is not considered to be a PC replacement with its packed Smart Keyboard. This would make the smaller 7.9-inch iPad mini harder to use unless Apple would create or bring out the right accessories to make the iPad mini Pro much more interesting. Apple would answer all speculations and rumors on its upcoming event on its campus by April 4.
