Chinese tourists continue to misbehave again. The latest incident involves visitors at the Badaling Wildlife Park in Beijing during the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday.
Shanghaiist reported that a family of Chinese tourist was seen chasing the peacocks and plucking the bird’s feathers at the park’s peacock garden. Another visitor took photos of the incident and posted the pictures online.

The photos became viral and elicited comments from netizens. Among the comments are that instead of plucking the feathers off the peacocks, the tourists should instead pluck the fur off the park’s tigers. It was also at the Badaling Wildlife Park where a tiger dragged a female visitor who stepped out of her vehicle and killed her.
A worker at the park confirmed that the feather-plucking incident occurred at Badaling. The park forbids hurting the animals, although visitors are allowed to touch, feed and take photos of the animals. However, some visitors want selfies with the animals, some of which are scared when picked by visitors.
Peacocks Die of Fright
In 2016 at the Kunming Zoo in Yunnan, two peacocks were frightened to death after these birds were picked up by tourists and their feathers plucked. A veterinarian at the Kunming East Hospital explained the peacocks could die of fright or suffer heart attacks if the animals are exposed to big shock.
The 2016 incidents happened days apart on Feb. 12 and Feb. 15 at the peacock park of the Yunnan Wild Animal Park in Kunming City, Daily Mail reported. The park has over 6,800 peacocks in green, blue and white colors that roam freely with tourists as proof that nature and humans could live in harmony at the park.
In a statement, the park said, “The uncivilized behavior of visitors caused the death of a peacock, a preliminary investigation determined that the five-year-old bird was scared to death.”
