To show to his fans that he is beginning to recover from his January accident in Thailand, Chinese actor Andy Lau posted a new photo on his official blog. The picture shows the 55-year-old actor now standing with the help of a walking stick.
Two Months of Hospital Stay
After a horse stepped on his back while Andy was filming a beverage commercial in Thailand, he was airlifted and spent two months in the hospital for treatment of his injuries and for recovery. In early March, Andy was discharged, Toggle reported.
Next to the photo of Andy with the walking stick, the actor also placed another picture taken from a movie he filmed, “Shock Wave.” To acknowledge the support he gets from fans, Andy captioned the post: “It’s you who’s standing in front of me and supporting me from the back! JUST DO IT!”
Movie’s Premiere
“Shock Wave” is scheduled to premiere on April 19 in Hong Kong which led to speculations if the actor would attend the event. He plays the lead role in the movie and producer, while Herman Yau is the director. Andy’s role in the movie, shot at the Cross-Harbor Tunnel in Hong Kong, is that of JS, a bomb disposal expert from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau of the Police Department.
The question if he would be well enough to attend the premiere is being asked because in March, Andy canceled plans to hold 20 concerts in December in Hong Kong. He announced the cancellation two months after he sustained pelvic fractures due to the accident.
The Straits Times reported that the medical team recommended for Andy to have a complete and solid rehabilitation because the coming year is a very important stage for the actor-singer.
