During the Super Bowl XLIX's Boston pizza delivery skit, the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander boasted its impeccable safety features by protecting over 200 pizzas during the pizza industry's busiest day of the year.
It was finally backed up by the most prestige safety award giving body IIHS. The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander was awarded as IIHS's Top Safety Pick+ rating, The News Wheel reported.
One of the most outstanding safety features of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander were its front- and second-row curtain airbags, front seat-mounted torso airbags, a driver knee airbag, and advanced front airbags to protect its occupants, and whatever they have or carrying including pizzas in the event of a crash.
The featured safety airbags scored a "Good" rating on every crash test that it went in including the difficult small overlap front crash test.
The Top Safety Pick+ award is only earned if a vehicle must be able to mitigate a frontal crash on its own. According to PR News Wire, the all-new 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander was able to achieve it through the vehicle's available Forward Collision Mitigation System and automatic braking system that has successfully prevented a crash at 12 mph during the crash test session.
In 2014, the same model also bagged the Top Safety Pick+ rating and this year's achievement is somewhat like a carryover from last year's crash testing since the vehicle has gone through slight modifications.
Mitsubishi Motors has released an official statement through their MMNA Executive Vice President Don Swearingen thanking the award giving body for the coveted safety award and promised to continuously improve their vehicles in the coming years.
