A new "Jurassic World 2" was recently revealed to have ties to Jurassic Park creator John Hammond, which was portrayed by Richard Attenborough, as the movie franchise moves towards connecting the new films to the original trilogy. Actor James Cromwell recently revealed that his character in "Jurassic World 2" was Hammond's partner in creating the technology that led to the creation of dinosaurs.
"Jurassic World 2" is expected to be another blockbuster hit, succeeding its predecessor which earned a domestic gross of $652 million and $1.018 billion in foreign territories. The film successfully rekindled fans' love for the sci-fi franchise, with director Colin Trevorrow giving the newer film an entirely new identity.
The "Jurassic World" sequel will connect the newer films to the original "Jurassic Park" trilogy and will bring back original characters such as Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcolm. Another character is going to shed some light on the earlier days of the dinosaur-filled theme park, and that's Benjamin Lockwood to be portrayed by Cromwell.
Although Cromwell wasn't seen in the original "Jurassic Park" movies, he is said to be the co-creator of the theme park and the technology that brought the dinosaurs back to life.
"The character Richard Attenborough played, I'm his partner, Benjamin Lockwood. We developed the technology of being able to clone the genes. And so I'm trying to deal with the blowback from what we have done," Cromwell said on "Larry King Now" (via ScreenRant).
Actor Sam Neill, however, previously said he won't reprise his role in future "Jurassic World" films. Actress Laura Dern, on the other hand, said he would be open to reprising his character Ellie Sattler.
Meanwhile, a new "Jurassic World 2" plot leak suggested that the sophomore film will center on Blue, the Velociraptor trained by Chris Pratt's Owen and bravely fought the Indominus Rex with the T-Rex.
"So Isla Nublar [the setting for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World] does appear in the film, briefly. They have to go back there to get Blue," a source told The Daily Mail. "The idea is that they want to use him as a basis for creating dinosaurs that can be used in war. They also want to incorporate traits from the Indominus Rex, even though it died."
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard's characters then step in to stop this from happening, since they know the dangers it will result into.
