Canadian rapper Drake is raking royalties from "Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage," according to the producer of the movie.
Mark S. Berry, who is the co-executive producer of "Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage" and the member of Toronto's Attack Media Group, has shockingly stated that the film has the blessings of Drake, as he had known about the movie for years. He also shockingly stated that Drake has signed a contract in 2009 which gave him $15,000 for the film and a royalty participation of 15 percent. He adds that this is a meager sum for the rapper who could now have demanded more. Though label representatives of Drake are still silent on the issue, as per reports by BillBoard.
However, Drake denied that he is a part of the upcoming concert film,"Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage". He tweeted his sentiments on the popular social networking site Twitter, much to the chagrin of his fans.
"The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in," the rapper has been seen tweeting to his 21.6 million followers. "I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans." Drake has posted this in reference to the record label established by him in 2012. Furthermore, this statement has been retweeted more than 12,000 times on Twitter.
Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage borrows heavily from a show, which was held in Toronto Sound Academy six years ago and from the rapper's self released mixtape back in 2009 "So Far Gone" and which featured some of his early hits like "Successful" and "Best I ever had". The concert film also includes interviews with Raps-A-Lot CEO James Prince and his son Jas Prince who has reportedly "discovered" Drake on MySpace.
The film will hit selected Canadian theatres on May 18.
