Ben ‘Funky’ Askren isn’t taking fight against Agilan ‘Alligator’ Thani lightly

With 15 wins, ONE Welterweight World Champion Ben "Funky" Askren is confident that he will still be an undefeated fighter after his title defense on May 26 at "ONE Championship: Dynasty of Heroes" at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Still, he does not underestimate his challenger Agilan "Alligator" Thani, who is also undefeated.

"Although Agilan might be an underdog, I am not taking this fight lightly," Askren said during an international conference call arranged by ONE Championship on April 26. "I'll take this fight just as serious as any other fights."

"And Agilan, you've got about four and a half weeks until you're in the cage with me and I'm just gonna tell you like I tell the rest of my opponents, this is the scary truth I will come across the cage," Askren told Thani. "I will grab you, I will put you on your back and I will punch you until you ask the referee to stop me from doing so. So enjoy the next four and a half weeks, I hope you're looking forward to the challenge. You have four and a half minutes till you're on your back.

Another pair of undefeated fighters ONE Women's Atomweight World Champion Angela "Unstoppable" Lee and two-time Muay Thai world champion Istela Nunes are headlining "ONE Championship: Dynasty of Heroes." Askren and Thani are co-headliners.

Shinya Aoki and Garry "The Lion Killer" Tonon are also in the fight card. They will compete in a grappling match while Team Lakay's Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio and Anatpong Bunrad will have a rematch in the flyweight division.

Competing in the welterweight division are Zebaztian "The Bandit" Kadestam and Luis "Sapo" Santos. Chen "Rock Man" Lei and Jeremy Meciaz will compete in the catchweight division while Amir Khan and Rajinder Singh Meena will compete in the lightweight division.

Aside from the match between Lee and Nunes, two more female matches are also in the fight card. Rika Ishige and Nita Dea will fight in the atomweight division while Tiffany "The Soul Crusher" Teo and Rebecca "The Professor" Heintzman-Rozewkski will compete in the strawweight division.
