The NFL news has been riddled with mixed emotions lately. At least for a couple of famous clubs. However, it's no doubt that the ongoing events are premised on the season-long expectations from the management of these teams.
Today, as usual, we'll be bringing you a couple of NFL headlines as popular as the sports betting odds those days.
Frank Reich, Former Colts Head Coach, is Set to Take a New Job at Panthers
It's barely two months after his dismissal as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. But as it stands, Frank Reich is an interview away from securing a new job with Carolina Panthers as the Head Coach.
According to Tom Pelissero, an NFL inside man, the Panthers are planning an interview for Reich for their open Head Coach position.
Reich has been an impressive offensive coordinator since his days with the Chargers and Eagles. Even though he lasted approximately a season as the HC on each team, he managed a Super Bowl championship with the Eagles.
Unfortunately, his time with the Colts has been off the ceremonious trajectory. He had an abysmal 3-5-1 start to the previous season, leading to his sacking. But before that, he led the Colts to two playoff berths and three winning seasons.
The College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2023 List
The latest 18 College Football Hall of Famers were revealed on Monday. The likes of Dwight Freeney of Syracuse and Tim Tebow, Florida's quarterback that the National Football Foundation elected, are among them.
Likewise, Reggie Bush, who won the Heisman Trophy for Southern California in 2005, belongs in the compilation.
Others include Luke Kuechly of Boston College, Micheal Bishop of Kansas State, Eric Berry of Tennessee, La Michael James of Oregon, Bill Kollar of Montana State, Robert Gallery of Iowa, Derrick Johnson of Texas, Jeremy Maclin of Missouri, Corey Moore of Virginia Tech, Terrance Mathis of New Mexico, Bryant McKinnie of Miami, Troy Vincent of Wisconsin, Michael Stonebreaker of Notre Dame, DeAngelo Williams of Memphis, and Brian Westbrook of Villanova.
Titans Sack Todd Downing
Frankly, Mike Vrabel has been in the serious business of reshuffling his coaching members since his loss in Tennessee. And the most recent firing is that of Todd Downing, his offensive coordinator. The team relayed this on Monday.
Likewise, the assistant coach Anthony Midget, offensive line coach Keith Carter, and offensive skill deputy Erik Frazier similarly parted ways with the club.
Downing rose to the offensive coach title after Arthur Smith collected the HC job at Atlanta Falcons. During Smith's time, the Titans were the second offense in the NFL in 2020. Downing's offense, on the other hand, reclined to the No. 17 position in 2021 and even dropped further to the 30th rank in 2022.
While injuries complicated the in-field mission of Downing, he also had a driving under the influence (DUI) case with the Tennessee police.
Vrabel's statement on the matter goes thus, "I want to thank Todd, Keith, Anthony, and Erik for their service and commitment to our team over their time here in Tennessee.
" Each of them made an impact on our organization, we're dedicated to the process and loyal members of our coaching staff."
Falcons' Dean Pees Retires at 73
After 18 seasons coaching in the NFL, Falcons' defensive coordinator, Daen Pees, announced Monday that he'll be retiring.
He joined the team earlier, before the 2021 season, almost after Smith became head coach. Pees has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Ravens, Titans, and Patriots in his 18-year NFL career. However, his coaching career took off in high school in the '70s and has spanned for half a century.
In Arthur Smith's words to Pees, "You appreciate all the work and the sacrifice. We all get paid to do this, and we're lucky as hell, but there are sacrifices you have to make.
" Dean is a guy who has coached at every level and had success. He has impacted a lot of lives, and he has impacted the game."
