The upcoming solar eclipse in Europe on Friday is a sign that the "day of judgment" is near, a pastor says.

Pastor Mark Blitz from Root Source, a website that allows Christians to access Jewish teachings, has warned that the March 20 eclipse will coincide with the very rare spring equinox which happens only once in every 100,000 years, a sign that means trouble is coming.

The said eclipse will happen on both the Jewish religious calendar's and spring's first day.

Bob O'Dell, the co-founder of Root Source, told WND that the upcoming solar eclipse is most likely a "message from God" to the world.

O'Dell also said that the path of the upcoming eclipse should be noted.

"The total solar eclipse continuously hovers over water and ice. I'm reminded of Isaiah 11:9 - which tells us that 'None will harm or destroy another on My entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is filled with water," said O'Dell.

Blitz said that a "blood moon" will appear a few weeks after the Europe solar eclipse. The pastor added that once the fourth and final blood moon appears, all nations will undergo the period of judgment.

Meanwhile, scientists are warning people that looking directly at the eclipse could permanently damage their eyes. Special solar glasses are recommended to avoid the harmful rays.

The two-hour solar eclipse poses a problem for Europe's solar power stations as around three percent of the continent's energy consumption relies on the sun, according to Daily Mail.

Interestingly, the solar eclipse also coincides with the first day the sun will come into view after a six-month period of polar nights, which only happens once every half a million years.
