“Outlander” show runners have just released new stills that has provided fans with even more hints about what could go down when the show returns with its midseason premiere. The entire cast was able to show up at Paleyfest 2015 to give their insights about some of the upcoming scenes, according to Emertainment Monthly.
A behind-the-scenes photo was posted on Instagram, showing Sam Heughan, in his Jamie Fraser costume, standing next to Graham McTavish, in his Dougal Mackenzie costume, and some members of the crew. Heughan had a gun in his hand, which indicates that he might be shooting someone when the show returns on April 4.
The second BTS image featured a new character, an old Englishman in a grey suit. Shortly after the pictures was posted on social media, fans immediately started to speculate that this new character could be the Duke of Sandringham.
Fans of the show might remember that Claire had to take advantage of her knowledge in history and about the Duke, despite being relatively limited, so that she could escape from Captain Jack Randall, as pointed out by The International Business Times.
One of the topics that the “Outlander” cast and crew talked about at this year’s Paleyfest was the time when Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, who plays the female lead role of Claire Randall, were immediately selected after their audition.
“We knew as soon as we saw the tapes,” director/producer Ronald Moore said. “We said, ‘That is our Claire and Jamie.’”
“Outlander” is actually based on the novels written by Diana Gabaldon. Apparently, Heughan had only skimmed through the first book when he was notified that he got the job.
“I Googled the rest,” he said. “It’s very interesting living these books.”
