Famous author John Green has finally released the trailer for “Paper Towns” on the “Today” show. Based on his 2009 bestseller of the same title, the movie showcases the acting talents of model Cara Delevingne as Margo and Nat Wolff as Quentin.
“It is a story about all kinds of love,” Green said during his the “Today” show appearance. “Not just romantic love, but also friendship, and how special friendship can be when you are in high school.”
The story focuses on Quentin’s search for his friend, Margo, when she suddenly goes missing shortly before their high school graduation.
Delevingne also shared a teaser video of the trailer on her official Instagram page on Wednesday.
“A sneak peek for you. Watch the full #PaperTowns trailer tomorrow morning! @papertownsmovie,” the British runway stunner wrote as a caption.
Although Delevingne is more famous on the runway, she had actually taken part in various films, such as the Oscar-nominated “Anna Karenina” in 2012. Moreover, apart from Green’s “Paper Towns,” she will also be co-starring with Hugh Jackman in “Pan.”
Unlike Green’s other book-to-movie adaptation, “The Fault in Our Stars,” “Paper Towns” does not lay its foundation on a popular-girl-meets-guy-next-door melodrama. Instead, it features a darker tone that is pretty similar to “Gone Girl,” as its premise encompasses mystery and revenge, according to Vanity Fair.
Despite some darker elements, Green has claimed that “Paper Towns” is “much funnier than ‘The Fault in Our Stars,'" according to NY Daily News.
“Paper Towns” premiers on big screens on Jul. 24.
