Karla Mosley, who portrays the role of Maya Avant in the CBS soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" revealed her character to be that of a transgender woman after two years of being a part of the soap, the twist was revealed in the episode aired on March 18.
In an interview with the US Weekly, Mosley stated that she was shocked when producers the producers told her about this new twist in her character.
In another interview with USA Today, Mosley told the magazine that her first reaction was surprise because decades ago, this story would not have been told like this, and not in a way that's truthful and not sensational. Her second reaction was, "Thank you."
It is a real opportunity to educate our viewers from all over the world.
Mosley has consulted GLAAD and is aware of the importance of the role she is portraying as it has given a new twist to the character. Talking about the new arch in the show, the dramatic developments that soap fans are used to on an everyday basis but the twist introduced by "The Bold and the Beautiful" added a new turn in the storyline.
When it was revealed that the character Maya was born as Myron added an inside twist and explained why the character did not want to get intimate.
The series with its recent twist by introduction of a transgender character in 28 years of the show being aired got bolder and beautiful.
