It's gonna be a tough season for the Oklahoma Thunders as N.B.A.'s reigning MVP Kevin Durant may stay out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury.
Thunder General Manager Sam Presti revealed that the MVP is still suffering from pain from his right foot, NY Times reported.
"He still has some soreness in his foot, and the protocol that's in place calls for him to be able to compete on the floor without that at this stage," revealed Presti.
The Thunders now faces a tough situation as they contend to be included in the Western Conference's number 8 spot for this year's playoffs.
With 14 games left before the playoff starts, according to Pro Basketball Talk, losing their big man Serge Ibaka and high scoring small forward Durant, the team builds its hope around all-star guard Russel Westbrook.
Thunders Coach Scott brooks will have to utilize his bench along with Westbrook, until Durant's return; that is still uncertain when.
Westbrook's 35 points, 10.4 rebounds and 10.3 assists average per game can help the team secure the 8th seed. Though it is not enough to earn them the NBA title.
The young Thunders who are hoping to make a Final's comeback, will certainly miss the 25.4 points average of the reigning MVP.
Should the Thunders get the 8th seed, they are going to face elimination threats as they face Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Durant suffered an injury on his right foot during their match against Memphis, and had to go into a surgery to fix a screw that gives him discomfort.
