Police arrested six men after a group of roughly 20 men and women forced their entry in a London synagogue late Saturday night.
A video posted on YouTube shows that the members of the Ahavas Torah synagogue in Stamford Hill was defending themselves with chairs and other objects in the midst of loud cursing and an apparent assault by the group.
According to Reuters, there was only one member of the said synagogue who was hurt and incurred minor facial injuries while they were defending the building.
The police speculates that it was a planned attack, although it is still unclear what had sparked the attack or its cause.
A London Metropolitan police said in a statement that the incident is being treated as an anti-Semitic incident due to the remarks made by one of the group.
"However, there is nothing to suggest it was a planned or targeted attack," he added. The police also said that it appeared as if the attackers came from a house party nearby and had walked into the synagogue.
Rabbi Maurice Davis of Ahavas Torah synagogue told BBC that he thinks the attack was more of an anti-social rather anti-Semitic, he said backing up the police statement.
Since there is no evidence that suggests it was an extremist attack, the incident can be seen rather as an unacceptable behavior of a drunken group.
In reference to ABC News, Inspector Jonathan Waterfield said: "We are investigating to establish the full circumstances of the incident and to identify anyone else involved in the disturbance who has not yet been arrested."
He also said that they have already increased the police patrols in the area of Stamford Hill in order to provide reassurance and safety to the community.
