It has been two years since NBA Cavaliers' All-Star small forward Lebron James reigned as NBA's Most Valuable Player, and he might just lack the chance to grab it again this season.
Tagged as the "best basketball player in the world" by some sports critics nowadays, it seems like the title doesn't guarantee his chances of reigning as MVP again.
Despite leading the Cavaliers into a great season and returning a 50-win season record almost after 5 seasons, the small forward still falls short on the MVP race.
Averaging 25 points, 7.3 assists, 5.8 rebounds per game is still not enough to give the former MVP security for the title, according to USA Today.
According to Bleacher Report,even Lebron's teammate Kevin Love agrees to this notion.
The Cavalier's starting power forward thinks that Russell Westbrook, who is also one of the MVP contenders, is having a better season than Lebron.
"They're both having an MVP-type season, but I'm going to go with Russell Westbrook because he's, every single night you're looking at his stat sheet, they're fighting for a playoff spot, with Serge Ibaka going down now, Kevin Durant potentially being out the rest of the year and him still going out there and fighting for his team, and winning, and fighting for that seventh or eighth spot in the playoffs. I think Russ is arguably having the better season."
Considered to be one of NBA's closest MVP races since the 1989-90 season, the race is lead by Houston Rockets' James Harden, Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry, Oklahoma Thunders' Westbrook and New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis.
"King" James, who is the currenly seated on the 5th spot, is the only former MVP in the race.
