The "American Idol" 2015 Top 9 was announced in the Fox show's Mar. 25 episode. Adanna Duru and Maddie Walker were voted out, leaving six guys and three girls in the show. Watch Adanna and Maddie in their favorite AI Season 14 performances.
Adanna Duru's "Love You I Do" (Jennifer Hudson from the film "Dreamgirls") drew mostly positive feedback from the judges. In contrast, the judges weren't very pleased with Maddie Walker's "Let's Hear It For The Boy" (Deniece Williams, "Footlose") on "American Idol" 2015 Top 11 Movie Night.
Adanna was one of two wildcard picks in the Top 12 of AI Season 14. (Quentin Alexander, who was safe this week, was the other wildcard choice.) Maddie had to do a sing-off with Rachael Hallack to get to the Top 24 prior to the live shows. Prior to this, Maddie was told by the judges that she didn't make it.
Due to the use of "save" in the previous episode, two had to go home this week. Qaasim Middleton, who got the lowest number of votes last week, was declared safe. In the bottom three with Adanna and Maddie was Rayvon Owen.
Speaking to Hollywood Life, Adanna said she thought she had a strong chance to the AI Season 14 Top 9. She added, however, that she's "all good" despite the elimination. Maddie said the experience has made her "so humble" and more supportive of people chasing their dreams.
Both Adanna and Maddie thanked the Idol supporters who voted for them in this "American Idol" 2015 video interview. In the same clip, Adanna said "Hello" and "Runaway Baby" were her favorites among her previous numbers.
For her part, Maddie said her favorites were "I'll Be There" and "Suitcase." Below are AI Season 14 videos of Adanna's "Hello" (Lionel Richie) and Maddie's "Suitcase" (Gwen Sebastian).
The next live episode of "American Idol" 2015 will air on April 1.
